Nothing spreads Christmas cheer quite like the smell of fresh pine and winter spices. So crank up the Christmas carols, put some decorations on the tree, and light these candles to get your holiday season off to a festive start.
1. Diptyque – Unicorn
Diptyque’s Unicorn candle is the perfect pine-scented accessory for the Christmas season. Similar to the brand's Sapin 2015 holiday edition candle, Unicorn is like a walk through a fragrant boreal forest. Accented with a hint of mint, it is a refreshing and green scent to get you in the mood to rock around the Christmas tree.

2. Cire Trudon – Ciel
Cire Trudon’s Ciel candle is reminiscent of a warm, smoky chimney fire. Notes of moss and wood add an earthiness to the wintery scent. Best lit on cold nights accompanied by hot chocolate and many blankets.
UK: Harrods US: Barneys
3. Astier de Villante - Stockholm
Astier de Villante’s Stockholm has a fresh green scent that is a mixture of different wild plants accented by various resins and spices. Quite pine-heavy, with spicy notes of clove and myrrh, this is a wonderful candle to invoke the festive aroma of Nordic winters.

4. Penhaligon’s – Christmas is in the Air
Penhaligon’s Christmas is in the Air is yet another pine-scented candle accented with festive spices and herbs. Juniper berries add a Christmassy crispness while cedarwood and patchouli add a woodiness and spicy warmth. Guaranteed Christmas cheer in every whiff!

5. La Montaña – Winter Oranges
La Montaña’s Winter Oranges smells like homemade pomanders with the citrusy, sweet smell of oranges and the spicy, warm scent of clove and cinnamon. It is rich and welcoming fragrance for the holiday season, and a great alternative to the traditional pine.

6. Le Labo – Pin 12
Le Labo’s Pin 12 is a bit softer than some of the other pine-scented candles I've smelled. A bit of musk and amber round out this delicate scent and make it an great candle to light against a backdrop of softly falling snow on those chilly weekend mornings when you have no need or desire to get out of bed.
7. Tom Dixon – Fire
Tom Dixon’s Fire is a very smoky choice for the holiday season, good for those nights when you really want to heat things up. Notes of cypriol, black suede, guaïac wood, vertiver, amber, and musk aim to create “the scent of smoky scorched timber and hot dry tarmac”. The candle smells quite a bit like this description with a charred and slightly burnt aroma. Though a somewhat unusual choice for a Christmas
candle, the smell is sure to chase away those winter blues.
8. Diptyque – Pomander
Diptyque’s Pomander smells of fresh cinnamon and a hint of orange. Another candle suggestive of the sweet and spicy aroma of homemade pomanders, this warm scent is a seasonal classic and is sure to make you feel all types of festive.
9. Folio by Illumens – Verbier
Folio by Illumens’ Verbier is another candle with a rich pine scent. The resinous pine is accented by fresh alpine flowers and crisp champagne. A wonderfully green and refreshing candle to light while singing “O Christmas Tree” and the like.

10. Skandinavisk – Snö
Skandinavisk’s Snö is another candle boasting a fresh, crisp scent, but instead of pine, this candle aims to capture the aroma of soft twinkling snow. Winter berries and frozen wood add a bit of Christmas sweetness and warmth to this light, bright candle. Recommended for use in the UK or other places where snow is scarce and you want to conjure dreams of a white Christmas!
